Text messaging lingo
But if you had a querty key boarded phone, you could just respond to the email in plain english so everyone could understand it; and or, take a picture and send it to them; or better yet, take a movie of yourself on your phone of your self laughing out loud; or just call the person and just laugh out loud in their ear and talk to them like we used to do. Oh wait... that isn't 21st century thinking. That is like ancient thinking... at least 5 years ago. Ok, it makes sense to use lol, u, i, ummlol, iwicttusichwyvslbiatui, and many others. I am sure you texters can figure out what these other text messaging favorites are but for some I will need to provide a dictionary:
lol - laughing out loud
u - you
i - I
ummlol - you make me laugh out loud
iwicttusichwyvskbiatui - I wish I could talk to you so I could hear what your voice sounds like but I am texting you instead
wwutwucjcmattmitfpswcbdwtcs - why would you text when you could just call me and talk to me in the first place so we could be done with the conversation sooner
jwcwsrtbih - Jane will... ( maybe you can fill in the rest of this text message)
You see how easy this is, how versitile and it just makes so much sense and so you can really communicate your message with ease and save a lot of time and energy so you can get on to the next text. Great, huh?

A great father's love
Watch the video after you read this. I am told that this happened several years ago but it is totally amazing...
A son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?'
The father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'. They went on
to complete the marathon together.
Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying
'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together.
One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad, let's join the Ironman together.'
To which, his father said 'Yes'. For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the

Satisfied and excited with life
I am blogging in response to another blog regarding missing high school and realizing we are growing to be adults. I love being 55 years old, having gray hair, life is slowing down, I can't run with the wind, hit the golf ball as far (okay that one bugs me), and all of the other things that go with it. I have loved every phase of my life as I have graciously grown older and older. I love the fact that rather than making sure all of my zits are cleaned up, I clip nose and ear hair when Jane insists. I love that rather than chasing my kids down the hall I have earned the right to chase grandchildren where and when I want to. I love that rather than worrying about going on a date with someone I hardly know but think she could be hot... instead I get to come home to the best woman in the whole world and have her put her arms around me and make me feel special... even when I am not.

Snow in April
Ok, this is no joke... it is April 19 and it snowed 4 inches last night in Mill Creek/Lynnwood Washington. We are right in the middle of the convergence zone where the weather is usually worse, meaning we get weird and worse weather than anyone else around here. If you went 5 miles south, no snow... or five miles north, the same. I took this picture at 7:30 this morning. To top this off, last Saturday it was 85 degrees and the most beautiful day of the year. Boy am I ever glad that we have global warming?

Family and home
Fun in California
We just came back from being with Ken and Cindi in Fresno, CA. We had such a great time seeing them. Mom and Dad, grandma and grandpa Hamm, also were there as they are on their way home to Lynnwood from their winter abode in sunny and hot Arizona. Well, we golfed and laughed and played games and just had a great time. One of the BIG highlights and benefits of the trip is that Paula, Ken's daughter, her awesome husband Michael, and their sons Gavin (16) and Mackay came down from Modesto to see us all on Sunday. It was so great to see them again as it had been since Tim Hamm's wedding since we had seen them. Gavin and Mackay gave us all lessons on how to shoot pool and we were able to visit throughout the afternoon. the hard part for Jane and I was to say good bye and see them pull away to go home. Cindi's daughter Nichole was also down for a couple of days of fun and we were able to catch-up with her family as well. If there is one thing we love to do it is to visit with and see our family, wherever and whenever we can. Thank you Ken and Cindi for being so gracious to us and allowing us to be able to invade your beautiful house/home. We had a great time.

Too close for comfort
Here is the joke/story: (slightly edited in blue)
While on a road trip, an elderly (we could say even young or middle aged) couple stopped at a roadside restaurant for lunch. After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant and resumed their trip. When leaving, the elderly (might I add very beautiful) woman unknowingly left her glasses on the table and she didn't miss them until they had been driving about twenty minutes. By then, to add to the aggravation, they had to travel quite a distance before they could find a place to turn around -- in order to return to the restaurant to retrieve her glasses. All the way back, the husband became the classic grouchy (misunderstood) old man. He fussed and complained and scolded his wife relentlessly during the entire return drive. The more he chided her -- the more agitated he became. He just wouldn't let up. To her relief, they finally arrived at the restaurant. As the woman got out of the car and hurried inside to retrieve her glasses, the old geezer yelled (maybe he really asked politely) to her."While you're in there, (Sweetie Pie) you might as well get my hat and the credit card!"
Now to defend myself; why must we be so critical and pointing out all of the faults of this poor man. Plus, from my point of view this story really exaggerates the entire situation way beyond reality. However, Jane, for some reason, will not say there is any exaggeration and in fact will probably say the story must have been previously edited by me in the first place to make it so "mild".
However, once again to my defense, this story must be a gross fabrication in the first place and could not be written by Jane or about me as my children well know that I would never have turned around and gone back in the first place let alone stopped to eat while I am driving on a trip. Unfortunately, that is more truth than I want to admit to, and I now apologize to my beautiful, understanding wife and children for all of the times I have been so set on the destination, usually McCall, that I wouldn't turn around even one mile from home to get something forgotten. Once again to my defense, we got there 10 minutes sooner, even if it was 2:30 in the morning!!
